cold pressing

binomial name: cold pressing
oil produced using this method is also known as cold-drawn, cold-pressed or virgin oils because it maintains its purest form without the use of heat. most commonly used for citrus fruits, olive and peanut oil, the peels and other elements are shredded and grinded into a fine paste using granite millstones or modern steel presses. this friction releases the essential oil without raising the temperature, allowing the oil to retain all of its flavor, aroma and medicinal value. the oil is then extracted using pressure to force it out of the paste for nutrient-rich results.

benefit: Oils made from cold pressing techniques preserve the elements of the fruit from which they came, such as their flavors and aromas.
