red flower is guided by the principles expressed in Edward O. Wilson’s Biophilia Hypothesis. Biophila refers to humans’ love of living things and our affinity with nature. Biophilia is the innate tendency to focus on life and lifelike processes.* red flower is nature in its form, botanical materials and sensory characteristics.  To touch petals before lighting an herb infused candle, to feel the texture of plant oils over the skin and to inhale the smell of fresh rose is the very essence of biophilic connection. In the words of the naturalist Wilson, I offer this (biophilia) as a formula of reenchantment to invigorate poetry and myth: mysterious and little known.. (aspects of nature) live within walking distance of where you sit. Splendor awaits in minute proportions.

It’s the simple, core truth that humans need a connection with nature to be content.  It’s the idea that people – since the beginning of time – must feel linked to their natural environment, and the other living things in it, not only to survive but to thrive.

Being surrounded by natural light, trees, natural textures and colours, natural scents and living, breathing plants has a profound effect on mood and wellbeing.**
